| This Sunday we begin a six week series Many of you have shared the anxiety and stress you're feeling in this time of contagion. In such times of hardship, we must return to our spiritual core, our center, to those practices that allow us to breathe deeply and rest in our God. But this isn't a passive, waiting kind of rest -- this is an invigorating, encouraging assurance that our actions are under-girded by faith. So join us for the next six weeks as we embark on a journey into the Hebrew Scriptures using the work of scholar Wendy Farley to find ourselves beguiled by beauty. "The difficulty and crisis of the world is overwhelming. It is virtually impossible to bear it without very deep resources." -- Dr. Wendy Farley |

A note from Pam Breniser about the worship visuals: Since we are missing out on the camp experience this summer, at Wanakee or elsewhere, it seemed some reminders of that outdoor environment would be nice for our worship visuals, especially since starting this week our series, Beguiled by Beauty, invites us to search creation for signs of beauty--for the whispers of the spirit. What says camp more than tie dye fabric and a log cross? And doesn't the spirit speak to us in the trees, rocks, water and wind? Be sure to look for the forest critters tucked here and there: great horned owl, frog, rabbit, butterfly and wolf. The wolf was given to Pam's father when he was in assisted living. There may be new things to spot each week. You may hear the sound of wind chimes. The ones hanging from the cross are slices of polished agate. |
