Photos from a colleague's worship service last week have been circulating and making folks smile. Picture an octogenarian wearing those inflatable arm floaties. The congregation gathered in the yard of a member for an outdoor service, each wearing their own version of PFDs (personal floatation device). Only they were discussing Practicing Faith Daily (PFD).

We've been told repeatedly how important humor, playfulness, and fun are in addressing the anxieties of these trying times. Our summer series taking Jesus on the road with us is but one of the ways we've tried to take our faith seriously while taking ourselves less seriously. This Sunday we celebrate those efforts and all those who worked to "find Jesus" alongside their summer travels.

We'll enjoy an end-of-summer hymn-sing with many of the Jesus hymns that we couldn't fit in anywhere else and we're excited to hear from our last witness, Carolyn Ekle.

Look forward to seeing you,
Rev Kelly

CHURCH FAMILY & FRIENDS NIGHT

DINERS WANTED!

Come with your friends, family, and neighbors and join us at the first ham and bean supper in our new format! Enjoy all the ham, cole slaw, potato salad, navy beans, kidney beans, and bread you care to eat. Service will be in an assisted buffet format - if anyone is not comfortable walking through the buffet line, servers will be available to bring a plate of food to them. Beverages will be available at tables, and desserts will be served to each table.

After the meal, we want to hear your thoughts and understand what you like and what you would like to see changed.

Come, be a part of church history!

Our awesome and extremely talented Music Director, Mike, is getting married at the end of September.  We had to arm wrestle him to get this information, but we were finally able to.  We are hoping, if you feel called to do so, to give to their wedding registry, the link is below.  They are collecting to support their future and the registry link below is for monetary donations.

Lahaina United Methodist Church's sanctuary was a special place for church members but also regular visitors to the west part of Maui, Hawaii. The sanctuary, built in 1922, was lost to the fires that devastated the community of Lahaina on Aug. 8. Photo courtesy of Lahaina United Methodist Church. If you wish to donate, link is below.

Our summer series has explored the various ways we experience Jesus as friend, teacher, Lord, Savior, way, presence and universal Christ. There are of course other ways that tradition has thought of Jesus that we didn't consider: lover, healer, prophet, messiah, etc. We've been blessed by those who shared from their own experiences, Pam, Mercedes and Pastor Kristy and we have two more coming up Peggy and Carolyn to finish up our 10 week focus on Jesus. So now it's your turn to share who Jesus is to you-- understanding that the answer has changed over the years.

Use this Menti poll to list a few of the ways Jesus has been present for you over your lifetime (you have 5 answers). Whatever image makes most sense for you now, enter that one twice. We'll unveil the responses in worship on September 3rd.

And don't forget to send in your photos of Jesus with you this summer.

Blessings.

Pastor Kelly
