Housing and Homelessness Take Center Stage this Weekend
For years, the Nashua Area Interfaith Housing Justice work group and GSOP have been working toward more equitable housing outcomes for our region. The work has included participation in the city's Master Planning process, advocacy for appropriate uses of city properties (such as the Nimco plant and the Elm Street Middle School), and supporting local ordinances that ensure greater housing fairness, such as the Housing Trust Fund and a mandatory Inclusionary Zoning ordinance.
This weekend, clergy across the area will be preaching about housing justice as a preface to the Housing Justice Forum that will take place on October 2 (see below). Pastor Kristy will preach here from the Gospel of Mark, Pastor Allison will preach on the heritage of inherited wealth at the Unitarian Universalist Church, and Rabbi Jon will preach about permanent homes in relation to their celebration of Sukkot. Pastors from the Episcopal and Presbyterian churches, as well as others will also join the effort. We hope that you will bring open hearts and minds to church this week. And please come to the Housing Justice Forum on Monday.
Blessings,
Pastor Kristy
