Redding Thompson was born in North Carolina in 1927. He received a B. S. in Civil Engineering at North Carolina State University in 1948 and an M. S. in Engineering Management at Drexel University in 1963.
He was a founder and engineering vice-president of Thompson Irrigation Company and a partner in Thompson Motor Company, an automobile dealership.
Mr. Thompson entered electronics research and development in 1957 and performed management and administration at Melpar, RCA and Lockheed-Sanders.
In 1985 he established Thompson Consulting, a nationally listed management consulting practice. He also taught consulting and technology management courses for several years in the Graduate School of Business, Rivier College, Nashua.
He served two terms on active duty with U. S. Forces. In 1945-46 he served in the United States Merchant Marine. During the Korean War, he served as second lieutenant in the U. S. Army; he taught electronics at the Antiaircraft and Guided Missiles School, Fort Bliss, Texas.
In Nashua, he was a member of Rotary and had been director of Child and Family Services of New Hampshire.
A life-long Methodist, at Main Street United Methodist Church he was lay leader and chairman of the education, council on ministries, and long-range planning committees. He also served various New Hampshire and New England area Methodist groups including the council on finance and administration, the episcopacy committee and the board of ordained ministry. He was the first chairman of the superintendent’s advisory committee for Southern New Hampshire. For most of his adult life, Mr. Thompson taught church school at elementary and adult levels.
Redding was predeceased by his wife Louise and one son. He is survived by three sons, seven grandchildren, and four great grandchildren.
