Main Street UMC needs YOU! I have had an incredible team of volunteers working behind the scenes the past two years to bring our children Vacation Bible School Care Packages, but this year WE ARE BACK! We are returning to in-person VBS, so I need all hands on deck. If your God-given gifts do not include working with children, that's no problem... There are numerous ways you can help! And you can start by spreading the word about VBS with anyone and everyone.

Click on this link for more information and to select the way(s) you would like to help:

I thank you so much for your support and consideration in helping with VBS 2022! We're on a roll with God!

Coming Soon:  Short-term Service Opportunities:  Let's expand our outreach into the city by welcoming and helping with the following events:

Suit Yourself:  August 16th, 9:00 am-1:00 pm:
Main Street UMC is working with the Veterans Administration, Harbor Care, Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter, Revive Recovery and other local groups to help people get spiffy for interviews with hiring managers on August 17th.  While our community partners will do most of the work, we would welcome a few each of Building Hosts, Interview Coaches, Encouragers ("Hey, you look great!  Good luck tomorrow!"), Helpers for set-up/tear-down.  This is the first time MSUMC has hosted this annual event and a great opportunity to welcome and introduce ourselves to community partners and our neighbors who are looking to better their lives!  (Donations of cleaned, pressed interview attire in great condition is also welcome!)

Nashua Soup Kitchen School Backpack Program:  August 17th-24th:
Deepening our existing partnership with the Nashua Soup Kitchen and Shelter, we will host the backpack program this year, which provides backpacks and school supplies for our local students.  Volunteer Building Hosts and Backpack Stuffers are welcomed. Come for one day or for several!  (A list of items to donate will follow soon!)

Please reach out to Pastor Kristy (kristy.besada@mainstreet-umc.org) for more information!

UMW UPDATE and UPCOMING EVENTS

Hi Everyone,
At our UMW meeting last Wed. we decided to hold an in-person fair this year and move it to October.   We are still deciding between Sat. the 15th and the 22nd.  The 15th is the Nashua Duck Derby as well as Great American Downtown's Oompah in the Park.  Will this bring more folks to the area that we can direct via signs to stop by the church as well?  Our decision also needs to be made based on the availability of volunteers to work the fair areas.  For a luncheon, even a carry out one, one of our serve-safe trained people needs to be in the kitchen.  Your input is valuable on this decision, so I hope to get a response from many of you who have helped with the fair in the past or are excited about trying something new and are interested in helping this year.

We will not hold regular meetings in July and August, but will try to plan one or two craft workshops.  Be watching for more on that.

We have a couple volunteer opportunities coming up in August in our building that Kristy mentioned at our meeting and Pastor Kelly talked about during worship on Sunday.  Those are "Suit Up" which helps folks to prepare for job interviews and the Soup Kitchen Back Pack drive.  More information will be coming up on the church website/Facebook page about these.

The Water Walk.: Saturday, September 10th from 8:30 am - noon, ,,mark your schedule for that!!

Enjoy some down time and recreation this summer.
Grace and Peace,
Pam
Save the Date

August 15th-17th when Main Streeters who are interested in shaping our worship series for the next year will come together online with those at Church of the Resurrection to prayerfully discern our series for the coming year.
