Who are those people or quotes that have inspired you in your faith journey?

A popular one, often wrongly attributed to St. Francis of Assisi, is:
"Preach the gospel at all times. If necessary, use words."

It points to the importance of our deeds more than just our speech, although both are necessary.
We probably all know of a few John Wesley quotes memorized like:
"Do all the good you can, by all the means you can, in all the ways you can,
in all the places you can, at all the times you can, to all the people you can,
as long as ever you can."

Or maybe there's a line from a poem or from scripture that you keep in your back pocket to pull out whenever necessary.

My sister made me t-shirt of an Amanda Gorman line after her inauguration poem knocked me off my feet:

"There is always light. Only if we are brave enough to be it."

This Sunday the two new Confirmands (Ellie and Nora) and their senior advisors (the last Confirmation class) will begin our journey with holy troublemakers and unconventional saints learning about those who worked for love, compassion and justice even if that means rocking the religious boat. The world needs these stories of the diverse people of faith whose courage is an example for our own times.

We'd love to hear from you about the people, stories, and quotes you have relied on to get you through. Check out our room on the second floor in Wesley to get inspired.

Blessings,

Rev Kelly

UNITED METHODIST MEN MEETING

SATURDAY, FEB 17

UMM will not meet this Saturday, February 4th due to the unavailability of our favorite chef, Jerry Harrow, who will be on vacation.  Instead of this Saturday, UMM will meet on Saturday, February 17th at 8:30 AM for breakfast, followed by our meeting at 9:00.

Our intention is to follow-up on our interest in completing a feasibility study to transform our electric power use to solar.  Anyone with knowledge of how this might be done we would like you to come to discuss this power transformation!

Pleases RSVP to h.kentswanson3rd@aol.com if you can attend, so we can plan accordingly.

All are welcome!

In Christ,

Kent Swanson
